SVSU DROPS 85-56 DECISION TO MICHIGAN TECH

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State Cardinals dropped an 85-56 decision to Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon from the James E. O'Neill, Jr. Arena. The Cardinals started the game down 13-0 in the first six minutes going 0-of-10 from the floor before freshman Brandon Ball (Grand Rapids, Mich./Union) canned a triple at the 14:00 mark.
     The Huskies led by 26 at halftime, 47-21, and MTU held their largest lead of 36 points in the second half at the 11:10 mark. SVSU (10-15, 5-11 GLIAC) shot 33.9 percent overall and 36.4 percent from the arc. MTU was 25-of-30 (.833) from the free throw line and shot 46.4 percent overall. Sophomore guard Sydney McDaniel (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) scored a team-high 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. Junior guard Brent Wichtner (North Branch, Mich.) scored nine points off the bench going 3-of-4 from the arc.
