PARKER SCORES 28 IN HIS FINAL GAME

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State men's basketball team ended the 2004-05 season with a 99-74 loss to Lake Superior State on Saturday night. Senior forward Anthony Parker (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) scored a season-high 28 points for the Cardinals on 6-of-14 from the field. He was also 5-of-10 from the arc and 11-of-12 from the foul line. Parker finished his career ranked third at SVSU with 1,696 points. Sophomore guard Sydney McDaniel (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) tossed in 15 points, including 11 in the first half.
     The Cardinals opened up a 39-24 lead in the first half, but the Lakers used a 20-6 run in the final seven minutes to close the gap to 45-44 at halftime. SVSU shot 48.5 percent in the first half and outrebounded LSSU, 23-18. The Lakers jumped out to a 10-0 run to begin the second half and led by nine points, 54-45, at the 18:21 mark. The lead would increase to 79-57 with 7:08 left as the Cardinals could not overcome 51.3 percent shooting by Lake Superior State in the second half. Senior Jim Clement led the Lakers with 24 points on 6-of-9 from the arc.
