CARDS HANG TOUGH IN 71-60 LOSS TO #7 FINDLAY

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Findlay Oilers used a 10-0 run from 6:49 to 4:31 in the second half to break open a close contest as Saginaw Valley State dropped a 71-60 GLIAC contest on Saturday. Senior forward Anthony Parker (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) hit a pair of free throws at the 6:49 mark in the second half to tie the game at 54-54. The Oilers then used quick scores by Dustin Pfeifer, Matt Metzger and Brent Schnipke to build a 10-point cushion.
      The Oilers took a 37-30 lead into the locker room at halftime closing out the first half on a 12-5 run in the final 4:31. The Findlay frontcourt was instrumental in outscoring SVSU, 34-22, in the paint. Marwan Gaines posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Findlay. The Cardinals shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) for the game, but connected on just 2-of-10 from the arc in the second half. Parker led SVSU with a season-high 22 points. Sophomore guard Sydney McDaniel (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) scored 11 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes.
