CARDS ADD DANIEL FOR 2005-06 SEASON

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Head Coach Jamie Matthews has announced the signing of incoming freshman Alex Daniel (Muncie, Ind./Central) to the 2005-06 recruiting class for Saginaw Valley State University. Daniel is the third high school student-athlete signed on for the upcoming season joining Luke Laser (Hillsdale, Mich./Hillsdale HS) and Adam Mughmaw (Sweetser, Ind./Mississinewa HS).
Daniel, a 6-2 guard, was a multi-sport athlete at Muncie Central High School. He was part of a 27-2 team on the hardwood during his senior season that was state runner-up in Class 4A. In addition, he was a Class 4A All-State selection in 2004 as a quarterback. Daniel is the ninth player in Muncie Central history to score 1,000 career points at the varsity level and averaged 13.2 points per game as a senior.
Daniel holds the school record for most games played in a career at Muncie Central, who has won eight state titles and produced the likes of Bonzi Wells. He also received the honor of being a Top 15 Senior by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
"Alex is a winner," says Matthews. "He is a bottom-line guy who is very competitive and the most intelligent player I've seen in a long time. He's a multi-position player who can post-up, guard and make moves around the basket."
