Cardinals Fall to Timberwolves,
90-82
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University
men’s basketball team dropped a 90-82 decision to the visiting
Northwood Timberwolves on Monday (January 12). The Cardinals trailed
41-32 at the half but could not pull any closer than six points after
the intermission.
Junior forward Anthony Parker
(Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) posted a team-high 17 points
to go with seven rebounds and four assists on the night, while junior
guard Rojelio Grady (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson)
chipped in with 14 points and a game-high and career-high twelve assists.
Tim Fralick (Troy, Mich.) pitched in with
13 points in only 16 minutes of action, while David Williams
(Laingsburg, Mich.) and Mekele Cooper (Saginaw,
Mich./Buena Vista) each chipped in with eleven points. Senior forward
Maurice Brown (Detroit, Mich./Cody) scored
nine points to go with a game-high nine rebounds.
Northwood had four players in double figures
in the scoring column, led by Dallas Logan’s 29 points. Nemanja
Kreckovic added 18 points, while Richard Kamm tossed in 13 points in
15 minutes of action. Djordje Lukic contributed with ten points and
a game-high nine rebounds. Derek Fillmore also pulled down nine rebounds
to go with eight points. Logan added a team-high nine assists in the
victory.
The loss drops SVSU to 8-7 (2-4 GLIAC),
while Northwood moves to 8-7 (3-4 GLIAC) on the season. SVSU returns
to the court on Thursday (January 15) when they travel to Ashland for
a 7:30p.m. contest.
