SVSU Men’s Basketball

Lakers Sink Cardinals,
98-75
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University
men’s basketball team dropped a 98-75 decision to the visiting
Grand Valley State Lakers on Monday (January 26). The Cardinals trailed
52-40 at the half but could not pull any closer than that after the
break.
Junior forward Anthony Parker
(Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) posted a team-high 20 points
to go with a game-high seven rebounds on the night. Senior guard Tim
Fralick (Troy, Mich.) pitched in with ten points in,
while freshman guard Rob McRae (Grand Blanc, Mich.)
added nine points to the Cardinal cause.
The Lakers shot 13-of-20 from three-point
range in the win. Each of Grand Valley State’s nine players scored,
with Eric Chess posting a game-high 24 points, including 3-of-3 three-point
shooting. Marcus Wallace also managed a perfect 3-of-3 effort from behind
the arc en route to 23 points. Melvin White rounded out the Lakers’
double-figure contingent with 17 points, including 5-of-7 shooting from
the perimeter. Brian Arnold dished out a game-high ten assists to go
with seven points for the Lakers.
The loss drops SVSU to 8-11 (2-8 GLIAC),
while GVSU moves to 11-6 (3-5 GLIAC) on the season. SVSU returns to
the court on Thursday (January 29) when host Michigan Tech for a 7:30p.m.
