                                         Warriors Fend Off Cardinals

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball started off their season on (Nov.22) by losing its first game of the GLIAC North/South Classic to Wayne State University, by a score of 93-81. Saginaw Valley was led by sophomore Anthony Parker's (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores HS) game-high 28 points, while going 8-19 from the field. He receieved help from senior Terrence Wright (Saginaw, Mich./Buena Vista HS) and sophomore David Williams (Laingsburg, Mich.) who both chipped in 17 points. Maurice Brown (Detroit, Mich./Cody HS) also reached double-digits in scoring with 13 points.
     Wayne State was led by Kendon Edwards who shot his way to 23 points. Wayne State out rebounded the Cardinals 49-37 on the night, while bringing down 17 offensive boards.
     Saginaw Valley drops to 0-1 with the loss, while Wayne goes to 1-0 on the year. The Cardinals return to action tomorrow when they battle Hillsdale College, tip-off is set for 3:00 pm.
