Nichols Torches Timberwolves

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Senior Cameron Nichols (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech HS), playing in his final game for SVSU, rang up a career-high 27 points to lead the Cardinals to an 82-81 victory over Northwood University on Saturday (February 22). Nichols drilled 6-of-10 three-point attempts for the second consecutive game and shot 8-of-15 from the floor for the contest.
     Nichols’ point total was a team high, leading four Cardinals in double figures. Sophomore Anthony Parker (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores HS) followed up with 16 points, while senior Terrence Wright (Saginaw, Mich./Buena Vista HS) posted 14 points and a team-high eleven rebounds in his last game in the red and white. Sophomore David Williams (Laingsburg, Mich.) rounded out the SVSU double-figure contingent with ten points off the bench. Wright, Williams, and senior Jerry Minott (Muskegon, Mich./West Michigan Christian HS) each dished out a game-high three assists to aid in the Cardinals’ season-ending victory.
     Dallas Logan dropped a game-high 28 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for the Timberwolves. Logan managed his point total on 11-of-21 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the three-point arc. Nemanja Kreckovic and D.J. Hughes followed up with 20 points and 16 points, respectively.
     The Cardinals end the season with a record of 13-14 (7-11 GLIAC), while Northwood finishes at 10-16 (6-12 GLIAC). SVSU bids farewell to four seniors, as Minott, Nichols, Wright and R.J. Hallowell (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley HS) end their careers with a victory over Northwood.
