Cardinals Return to Winning Ways

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Senior Terrence Wright (Saginaw, Mich./ Buena Vista HS) recorded a team-high 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor to lead the Saginaw Valley State University men’s basketball team to a 75-67 win over Ferris State University on Thursday (January 23). The Cardinals took a slim 35-34 lead into halftime and used a 40-33 advantage after the break to get the win.
     Sophomore Anthony Parker (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores HS) added 18 points to the Cardinal cause. Junior Maurice Brown (Detroit, Mich./Cody HS) chipped in with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. Wright also pulled down eight rebounds and added a game-high three assists.
     Ferris State’s Adam Anderson recorded a game-high 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting and Corey Epps chipped in with 13 points to aid the Bulldogs’ offensive attack.
     SVSU held commanding advantages in rebounds (38-29) and free-throw shooting (88.9% to 72.7%) while making eight more free throws than the Bulldogs.
    
The win ends the Cardinals’ six-game losing streak and moves them to 9-9 (3-6 GLIAC), while Ferris State drops to 7-10 (3-6 GLIAC) on the season. SVSU returns to the court on Saturday (January 25) at 3:00p.m. against Grand Valley State University at James E. O’Neill, Jr. Arena.
