Cardinals Drop Two at GLIAC North/South Classic

UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH.- Saginaw Valley State University hosted the GLIAC North/South Classic on Friday and Saturday and were unable to spoil the visits of either opponent.  The preseason GLIAC South favorite Hillsdale College got the best of the Cards in day one, taking home a 74-56 victory.  Saturday's game saw the Cardinal freshman put-on a nice display, but falling just short in a 75-68 defeat to Wayne State University.
Hillsdale's Matt Mlynarchek dominated down low, leading all scorers with 26.   Ryan Marino (Springfield Twp/Clarkston) had 14 for the Cardinals.

Wayne State, fresh off a heartbreaking loss to Northwood in its opener, was able to pull away from the Cardinals in the final minute.  Warrior point guard Mike Brown poured-in 14 points and Marino duplicated his 14-point performance for the Cardinals.
The Cards will next see action when they take on coach Dean Lockwood's alma mater, Spring Arbor on November 26 at 7:30 pm.
