FINISH SECOND AT RIVERMAN INVITATIONAL
O'FALLON, Mo. – The Saginaw Valley State
men's golf squad rallied to a second-place finish on day two of
the Riverman Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri-St.
Louis carding a low-round of 292 and finishing five strokes behind
Grand Valley State. The Cardinals fired a 301 in the first round
on Sunday and found themselves tied for fourth. The Cards were
six strokes better than Wisconsin-Parkside and had the lowest
round by two strokes on Monday.
SVSU placed three golfers in the
top 10 led by Scott Urquhart (Queens Ferry, Scotland)
who tied for fourth with a two-round total of 147 (+3). Urquhart
fired a 71 (-1) in round two which was the lowest round of the
day. Adam Miller (Gaylord, Mich.) tied for eighth
with a two-round score of 148 (+4) as did Sean Rutherford
(Haslett, Mich.) who fired a 73 in the final round. Miller shot
even-par 72 in the second round and opened with a 76. Freshman
Mike King (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central)
tied for 16th with a score of 150 (+6) after shooting rounds of
74 on day one and 76 on day two.
