CARDS FINISH
FOURTH AT GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIP
COLDWATER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State
men's golf squad showed resiliency on Sunday during the final
18 holes of the 54-hole GLIAC Championship hosted by Hillsdale
College at Blackberry Patch Golf Course. The Cardinals began the
day in eighth-place and proceeded to shoot 305 in the final round
and finish in fourth. Ferris State won the championship with a
three-round total of 917 followed by Findlay (928) and Grand Valley
State (932).
Freshman Sean Rutherford
(Haslett, Mich.) had the best showing of his young career
with a three-round total of 228, including an even-par 72 in the
final round. Rutherford was the best SVSU finisher coming in third
place. Freshman Mike King (Livonia, Mich./Catholic
Central) shot a one-over par 73 in the final round and finished
tied for 23rd overall with a score of 238. Junior Darren
Husse (Fenton, Mich./Hartland) finished tied
for 17th overall with a 235 and shot his best round on Sunday
with a 76 (+4).
