CARDS FINISH
SECOND AT THE BULLDOG INVITATIONAL
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley
State men's golf squad started the 2004-05 season with a second-place
finish at the Bulldog Men's Fall Invitational hosted by Ferris
State. The Cardinals finished 11 strokes behind the host Bulldogs
in the one-day, 36-hole event held at Katke Golf Course on the
campus of FSU.
SVSU fired a 302 in the first 18 holes
trailing FSU by six strokes after play in the morning. The afternoon
18 holes saw SVSU shoot an eight-stroke improvement of 294, but
the Bulldogs were too strong on their home course firing a 289
in the afternoon.
Sophomore Adam Miller
(Gaylord, Mich.) tied for medalist honors with a three-under
par 141 for both rounds, including a three-under 69 in the last
18 holes. He however lost in a sudden-death playoff to Northwood's
Justin Holyszko.
Junior Darren Husse (Fenton,
Mich./Hartland HS) shot a 145 (+1) for the tournament, including
an even-par 72 during the morning 18. Sophomore Brad Almonroeder
(Escanaba, Mich.) placed 10th overall playing as an individual
and shooting a 148 (+4).
