Cards Finish Fourth in Bay Valley Intercollegiate

SAGINAW, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University golf team finished in a tie for fourth place in the Bay Valley Intercollegiate Invitational on Saturday (September 27). The action unfolded on Friday (September 26) and Saturday (September 27), with day one being competed at Bay Valley Resort and day two taking place at the Sawmill Golf Club. Ferris State took home first-place honors with an overall team score of 596, while the Cardinals tied Findaly for fourth place with a score of 616.
     Ferris State’s Pat Simmer took home individual first-place honors, carding an overall score of 144 (71 on day one, 73 on day two).
     Senior Dave Niewiadomski (Alanson, Mich./Littlefield HS) carded a 149 (75-74) to lead the Cardinals with a seventh place finish, while senior Ryan Waier (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) finished in 33rd place with an overall score of 158 (78-80). Sophomore Darren Husse (Fenton, Mich./St. Thomas Moore HS) followed in 35th place with a score of 159 (79-80), and freshman David Cook (Frankenmuth, Mich.) took 45th with a 162 (69-93). Freshman Adam Miller (Gaylord, Mich.) rounded out the SVSU contingent with a two-day total of 163 (82-81), good for 47th place.
     The Cardinals return to the links on Sunday (September 28) in Midland, Mich.
