Cardinals Take Sixth
at Ashland Invite
ASHLAND, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley
State University golf team finished in sixth place out of ten
teams at the Ashland University Men’s Golf Invitational
on Friday and Saturday (April 11 & 12). The Cardinals fashioned
a score of 606 for the tournament, while Northwood took top honors
with a score of 578.
The Cardinals were led by Dave
Niewiadomski (Alanson, Mich./Littlefield HS),
who finished in a three-way tie for ninth place with a score of
146. Niewiadomski managed his total with a first-day round of
76, followed by a second-day score of 70. Jerry Hoefling
(Saginaw, Mich./Valley Lutheran HS) finished in a tie
for 23rd with a two-day score of 152, while Chris Hudson
(Midland, Mich./Dow HS) took 33rd with a two-day score
of 155. Darren Husse (Fenton, Mich./St. Thomas
Moore HS) rounded out the Cardinal contingent of place winners
with a two-day score of 158, leaving him tied for 40th place.
Northwood’s Justin Holyszko
carded a 66 on day one and followed it with a score of 71 to take
home individual honors with a two-day total of 137.
The Cardinals will return to the
links on Sunday (April 13) at Lake Shore Country Club for the
Gannon University Invitational.
