Cardinals Finish Tenth In Regional Tourney

FALLS OF ROUGH, Ky. – The Saginaw Valley State University golf team earned a tenth-place finish at the NCAA Division II District 4 Regional Tournament over the weekend (Mar. 22-23). SVSU finished with a team score of 642. Bellarmine University took first place with a two-day total of 619 at the par 72 Lafayette Golf Course.
   Chris Hudson (Midland, Mich./Dow HS) led the Cardinals, shooting 157 for the tournament. Jerry Hoefling (Saginaw, Mich./Valley Lutheran HS) fired a 160, while Adam Haswell (Freeland, Mich.) posted a 162. Darren Husse (Fenton, Mich./St. Thomas Moore HS) shot a 163, and Dave Niewiadomski (Alanson, Mich./Littlefield HS) finished the tournament with a 167.
   SVSU now sits in eighth place in the NCAA Division II regional rankings with the top eight advancing to the NCAA Super Regional in May. The Cardinals will play in the final regional tournament on April 19-20, in Auburn, Ind., and will try to maintain the eighth position. SVSU returns to action April 4-6, as part of the University of Findlay Open.
