Cardinals Take Third at Northwood Invitational

SAGINAW, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University golf team took third place out of a ten-team field in the Northwood Invitational, hosted by the Sawmill Golf Course. SVSU finished with a two-day score of 613, 13 strokes behind first-place Ferris State (600). Northwood finished in second place with a two-day total of 607.
   Senior Jerry Hoefling (Saginaw, Mich./Valley Lutheran HS) paced the Cardinals with a two-day score of 151. Junior Chris Hudson (Midland, Mich./Dow HS) finished with a 152, including a 73 on the second day, the best round by a Cardinal during the invitational. Dave Niewiadomski (Allanson, Mich./Littlefield HS) finished with a 153, while Darren Husse (Fenton, Mich./St. Thomas Moore HS) and Ryan Waier (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) each finished with a 159 for the event.
    The Cardinals return to action on September 20th, when they take part in the Region I tournament, hosted by Blackberry Patch.
