SPRING
GAME RAISES OVER $2,000 FOR AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The third annual
Cardinal/American Cancer Society Spring Football game on Saturday
proved to be a big success both on and off the field. The Saginaw
Valley State football squad braved the elements and did so for a
great cause as they helped raise $2,140 for the American Cancer
Society. The money was raised in numerous ways as the team did not
have any paid admission for the game, but instead had donations
taken for the American Cancer Society. In addition, after the game
the team had a luncheon inside the Ryder Center where further donations
and the selling of SVSU football merchandise helped raise funds.
The total amount has grown every year and this year the amount raised
nearly doubled the first two years.
"This organization needs everyone's
assistance as people fight this horrible disease," said head
coach Randy Awrey. "SVSU and our football players are committed
to providing our time and money to our community and this partnership
each year is very special."
