Judd Folske

Coach
Folske earned his bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University
in 1974 and a masters/specialist in Physical Education from Central
Michigan University in 1976. He began his college coaching
career at Ferris State as an Assistant Coach for both football and
baseball in 1970. He became the Head Baseball Coach in 1984
and over the next eleven years guided them to seven Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Titles. He was named the
GLIAC “Coach of the Year” seven times and finished with
a conference mark of 122 wins with only 54 losses. Folske
became Central Michigan University ’s 19th Head Coach on May
5, 1998 , after serving as an Assistant Coach in 1998. He
replaced veteran skipper Dean Kreiner who retired after 28 years
of coaching at CMU. Coach Folske retired
himself after the 2003 season leaving a mark of 131 – 98 during
his four years as the Head Coach of the Chippewas. |

Dean Kreiner 2nd season |
Kreiner
will embark on his second season with SVSU. He will work with the
Cardinal pitching staff. Kreiner played baseball for Central Michigan
University before serving as an assistant coach from 1971-1984.
Kreiner became head coach in 1985 and would serve
as the skipper for 14 seasons (1995-98). He earned Mid-American
Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1985, ’86, ’87,
’88, ’90 and ’93. Kreiner was named Mid-East Regional
Coach of the Year in 1985, ’86, ’87 and ’95. His
14 seasons as head coach produced a record of 516-282-4 (.646).
Kreiner’s 1988 team posted a record of 47-15, setting the
school record for wins in a season. In 1986 and ’88 his teams
reached the NCAA regional finals. Dean and his
wife Judy live in Mount Pleasant. They have three sons: Tom, Denny,
Ken, and a daughter, Karen. |

Steve Head 2nd
season |
Steve
Head enters his second year as an assistant coach at SVSU. He has
managed a collegiate-aged baseball team in Flint CBL Stan Musial
League from 2001-04 and compiled a record of 61-40. In addition,
Head is a 2000 graduate of SVSU with a degree in sociology. He was
a member of the SVSU baseball team during his collegiate days and
after graduation coached baseball, football and basketball at New
Lothrop High School from 2001-03. His junior varsity baseball squad
posted a record of 32-14 during his two years as coach. Head also
worked in Field Maintenance for the Flint Industrial Mutual Association. |
