Tops Hanover, 3-1
FT. MYERS, Fla. - The Saginaw
Valley State University baseball team battled to a 3-1 win over
Hanover (Ind.) on Wednesday (March 2). The Cardinals scored runs
in the third, fourth and fifth innings to take the win.
Senior Ryan Reid (Sarnia,
Ontario) pitched a complete game to earn the win for the
Cardinals. In seven innings pitched Reid struck out six, walked
two, allowed two hits and only one run.
Senior Mike Crawford (Lake
Orion, Mich.) went 1-for-3 with an RBI bunt single in the
third inning. Crawford's bunt single knocked in sophomore Chris
Hanna (Caledonia, Mich.). Hanna went 1-for-1
with the run scored and also knocked in senior Joe Funsch
(Clio, Mich.) in the fifth inning. Funsch reached
base on a walk and stole two bases.
Junior Dale Marsden (Sarnia,
Ontario) went 1-for-3 with a single and a run scored in the
fourth inning. Senior Dan Jones (Gladstone,
Mich.) went 1-for-3 to round out the Cardinals' offensive
attack.
The Cardinals move to 3-2 on the
young season, while Reid raises his mark to 1-0.
