Young Tosses Six-Hitter, Cards Win 8-1

Grand Rapids. Mich.- Junior Justin Young (Flint/Kearsley) threw eight innings of six-hit ball as the Cardinals beat host Calvin College 8-1 on Tuesday. Young (2-1) walked just two batters and struck-out six giving the Cardinals their 25th win of the season.
     The Cardinals balanced their scoring attack against the Knights, tallying two runs in four different innings. Four Cards had two hits apiece: Ryan Wilkinson (Dearborn), Mike Condon (Utica), Adam Ruffner (Gibraltar/Carlson) and Chris Ebright (Utica). Toby Larkin (Bridgeport) came on to pitch a one-two-three ninth.
     The win puts the Cardinals record at 25-8 (13-6 GLIAC). SVSU will play next at Rochester College in a non-conference nine-inning affair on Thursday.
