SVSU Sweeps Wayne State

DETROIT - Saginaw Valley State University pushed its win streak to 10 games by defeating GLIAC rival Wayne State University on Saturday afternoon 2-1 and 7-2.
     Junior left-hander Tim Goheen (Proton Station, Ontario H.S.) posted his 10th straight victory for the Cardinals in the first game, allowing one run, six hits, and four walks, while striking out four. He has an 8-0 record this season.
     Junior Jason Valenzuela (Ontario, CA) had a double and his 13th stolen base for the Cardinals, while junior Zac Zdenahlik (Coloma) added an RBI single. Senior Kraig Enders (Sanford/Sanford-Meridian) had a single and his 19th stolen base.
     Freshman Scott Corby (London, Ontario) tossed his first complete game to improve to 2-1 in the nightcap. He recorded eight strike-outs, allowing seven hits, two runs, and one walk.
     Senior Joel Dohm (Owosso) led the Cardinals with two hits and an RBI, including his 25th career home run, one shy of the school record. Sophomore Justin Garcia (Bay City/Western) added two hits and two runs and senior Josh Miller (Whitby, Ontario) added a triple and three RBI.
     Saginaw Valley is now 27-6-1 overall and 12-2-1 in the GLIAC and plays Wayne State University in a doubleheader Sunday at Noon.
