Goheen Sets SVSU

ERIE, PA - The Saginaw Valley State University
men's baseball team defeated the Knights of Gannon University
in both games of a double header on Saturday.
SVSU took the first game by the score of 27-1.
Senior left hander Tim Goheen (Proton Station, Ontario)
received the win for the Cardinals. The win is his 25th of his
career and makes him the winningest pitcher in SVSU history. The
old mark was held by Mike Hill during his Cardinal career from
1986-89. Goheen only gave up four hits in five innings of work.
His season record improves to 5-4.
Fourteen different Cardinal's were able to get hits
in the first game, four of them home runs.
The Cardinals took the second game by the score
of 8-5.
Though SVSU had no problem taking the first game
the Knights forced the Cardinal's to come from behind in the second
game.
Getting the win for the Cardinals was pitcher Scott
Corby (London, Ontario/AB Lucas). Corby allowed seven hits and
gave up four earned runs in six innings of work. Corby's record
improves to 9-1 on the season.
Leading the way for the Cardinals in the second
game was junior Mike Condon (Utica) who went three for four at
the plate with one rbi.
SVSU improves their record to 33-10 overall and
20-5 in the GLIAC.
The Cardinals next game will be Sunday, May 6th
when they will again play another double header at Gannon. Game
time will be at noon.
