THE MICHIGAN WATER COLOR SOCIETY'S 2007 TRAVELING SHOW
RECEPTION: Tuesday, October 16, 4:30 - 6:30 pm
The Michigan Watercolor Society Traveling Show exhibit will showcase the award-winning, exciting and strong works created by Michigan watercolor media artists from the entire State. The traveling exhibition features 35 works, including the 14 award-winning paintings, selected from the MWCS’s 60th Annual Exhibition held earlier this year. The exhibition showcases the beauty, jewel-like color, and versatility of this extremely popular medium, and painting styles range from finely detailed Photorealism to vivid abstractions.

“URBAN/POETRY/URBAN DECAY: Photographs and Handmade Books by Laura Russell”
All over the United States, once-thriving towns are dying. Decades of poverty and the decline of the automotive business are creating an urban blight. The photographs of this project were all taken in Saginaw, Michigan in one very small neighborhood. Laura Russell is a photographer and book artist who grew up in Saginaw and currently lives in Portland, Oregon. She holds a BBA degree from Northwood University in Midland. She creates hand-bound, limited-edition artist books that incorporate her own photographs to tell a story about our culture and our communities.

These group shows of the works of SVSU senior art majors serve as a completion of their undergraduate program. Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, computer illustration and graphic design are included.
February 4 - March 1
PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS BY JON ONYE LOCKARD
Jon Onye Lockard is a founding faculty member of the University of Michigan’s Center for Afroamerican and African Studies, and instructor at Washtenaw Community College. Lockard is a renowned artist specializing in African and African American art. He has held key positions in diverse cultural organizations, including artistic advisor for the Martin Luther King Monument in Washington, D.C.
March 10 - April 5, 2008
“BEYOND BOUNDARIES:35 CHICAGO ARTISTS CONNECT”
A traveling exhibition from the Chicago Printmaker’s Collaborative with additional work by local artists and students. Chicago Printmaker’s Collaborative is a stunning traveling exhibit. Supplementing the display will be projects done specifically for the show by SVSU graphic design, photography, and two-dimensional design classes, as well as works solicited from area artists.

Department of Art - STUDENT BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS EXHIBITION III
This group show of the works of SVSU senior art majors serves as a completion of their undergraduate program. Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, computer illustration and graphic design are included. Student's works will be divided into two separate exhibits.
April 10 - 19: Exhibit will feature Paolo Pedini, Hermelinda Roof, Alex Sous, and Sara Lowthian. The opening recepetion is Thursday, April 10 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm in the University Art Gallery.
April 24 - May 3: Exhibit will feature Laura Izzo, Megan Gotham, Shoua Kue (part 2 of her exhibit), Phil Reinbold and Kri Young. The opening reception is Thursday, April 24 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm in the University Art Gallery.
