Art students from Central Michigan University, Delta College, Saginaw Valley State University, and Northwood competed in the "Battle of the Arts 2011" which was held at Creative 360, in Midland on January 28, 2011. The theme for the artworks was "Conservation".   An exhibition of the works completed was held  from February 4 - April 1, 2011.  Art faculty from CMU, Delta, SVSU and Northwood were also invited to show their work at this same exhibition.   Prizes were awarded by Jurist and People's Choice: $250 - 1st Prize, jurist award, $150 - 2nd Prize, jurist award, $250 - 1st People's Choice Award, night of competition, student work only, $150 - 2nd People's Choice Award, student and faculty work, was awarded at the completion of the exhibit, on April 1.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 22 SVSU Art students who competed against art students from Central Michigan University, Delta College, Northwood Institute, and Davenport College on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Creative 360 stage, studio and gallery, in Midland. Working on the Olympics theme "Higher, Stronger, Faster," competitors had to conceptualize, develop and complete works of art in just three hours, within a 6' x 6' space in the gallery. Techniques ranged from acrylic painting, photography and sculpture to mixed media, assemblages, clay and woodcarving. Their pieces were all auctioned off at the end of the evening. SVSU student’s sweep the competition and won ALL the prizes awarded.

$250 First Prize: Corey Gilbert, Caleb Guthrie, Sarah Hoover, Kait Harris

$150 Second Prize: Bethany Sharp, Stephanie Janczewski, Stacy Wilson

$100 People's Choice Award: Sara Card, Jillian Moody, Angela Lewis, Max Najar, Kara Schymanski

$100 Bonus Award: Amanda Abraham (Awarded to artist whose work had the highest selling price)
