SVSU has the most affordable tuition and fees cost of Michigan's 15 public universities.

The following information provides some insight into the cost of an education at Saginaw Valley State University. Please use this as a guide to more accurately determine your costs.

  • Tuition is based on a $245.90 per credit hour rate for Michigan residents taking undergraduate courses.
  • A General Service Fee of $10.75 and technology fee of $3.85 is assessed to each credit hour taken.
  • Costs shown reflect a 15 credit hour schedule.
  • Students on average take between 12 and 15 credits each semester.
  • A pace of 15 or 16 credits per semester is required to complete most degrees in four years.

    The Academic Computing Fee is applied to courses that require the use of computers in either specialized or general labs.

    A non-refundable application fee(check or money order payable to SVSU) must accompany the application for admissions. Please include your social security number on you check or money order.
  • International Student Application Fee: $75

Resident Hall students should also plan for miscellaneous items not included in general educational costs. It is recommended to add $200 to $300 per semester for incidentals, such as snacks, gas, toiletries, movies, laundry, supplies, and other personal expense.

First Year Suites Room and Board rates for the 2011-2012 academic year

Unlimited Meals per week + $100 per semester=$3,885

Provides unlimited meals at the all you care to eat facility plus $100 in the declining balance account to use at the other on campus dining facilities for the semester.

14 Meals per week + $150 per semester=$3,690

Provides approximately 210 meals at the all you care to eat facility plus $150 in the declining balance account to use at the other on campus dining facilities for the semester.

10 Meals per week + $450 per semester=$3,810

Provides approximately 150 meals at the all you care to eat facility plus $450 in the declining balance account to use at the other on campus dining facilities for the semester.

Meals are offered at The Market Place at Doan in SVSU's Doan Center, Albert E's, Einstein Bros. Bagels and the C-Store. Web site

  • The Market Place at Doan facility provides home style entrees, grilled foods, pizza, deli sandwiches as well as a soup and salad bar.
  • Regional Education Center's Einstein Bros. Bagels provides espresso coffee beverages, fresh bagels, breakfast sandwiches, deli sandwiches and salads.
  • Albert E's houses the retail food court which includes Quiznos, Greens to Go and Papa John's.

Full-time status is at least 12 credit hours. Most full-time students take 12-16 credit hours per semester. To graduate in four years, students must complete 31 credit hours a year.
