Features: SVSU Alumni Association Elects New Board Members

The Saginaw Valley State University Alumni Association is proud to introduce its newest board members, Manuel Gonzalez II, Jennifer Pahl, Johnathan Pope, and John Spreeman.

"The Association is pleased to welcome four new alumni to the Board. They bring to the Association a wealth of talent, experience, and enthusiasm", said Russell Beaubien, President of the SVSU Alumni Association.

Manuel C. Gonzalez II, B.S. '00 has been working in the education field for more than a decade. His experiences have included mentoring at Boysville of Saginaw, teaching at SVSU as an adjunct of mathematics, and coaching the Tri-Valley Judo Club. Manuel is currently a Financial Advisor at Prudential Financial and is very active with the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce, Tri-County Economics Club and Tri-Valley Judo Club. Prior to Prudential Financial, Manuel worked at Delphi Steering. He resides in Bay City and joined the Alumni Association to become more involved with SVSU and alumni.

Johnathan D. Pope, B.A. '99, knows the SVSU campus inside and out. While attending SVSU he established recruitment and training programs for SVSU tour guides as the Campus Tour Coordinator. For over thirteen years Johnathan has provided invaluable services at the Saginaw YMCA. He began his YMCA career as an Assistant Youth Director and is currently the Branch Executive Director overseeing the operation and administration of the organization. Johnathan is also a board member of the Read Association, Bulls Eye Golf Foundation, and Willie E. Thompson Fellowship Program.

Two words that describe Jennifer Pahl, B.B.A. '00, M.B.A. '02, are Red Pride. As a student Jennifer held leadership positions in the Student Association and Alpha Sigma Alpha. She was a Resident Assistant and involved in numerous intramural sports and campus events. It is fitting that she is a current member of the Red Pride Committee at SVSU and advisor to Alpha Sigma Alpha. Jennifer works at the University as Associate Director of Admissions. "SVSU has been an active part of my life for the last 12 years and I look forward to many more great years ahead", said Jennifer. She and her husband Joshua reside in Saginaw.

Certified Public Accountant, John W. Spreeman, M.B.A. '87, has remained connected to his alma mater over the years. John was an adjunct professor and former senior accountant at SVSU before he became General Manager at Burt Watson Chevrolet Pontiac, Inc. Today, he controls and supervises all aspects of dealership management, initiates sales programs, negotiates contracts, and creates corporate culture standards. John is very involved with the community through the Michigan Scholars Program, 1000 Leaders Tri-County Program, Kiwanis Club, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters Saginaw and Bay Counties.
