The SVSU Alumni Association is proud to introduce Judy M. Werner as its new president. Werner graduated from SVSU in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Judy M. WernerJudy's smile and vivacious personality are a staple as she faithfully volunteers at numerous alumni events, commencements, and campus activities. Werner says, "I joined the Alumni Association board because of my commitment to the University and the feeling of giving something back to the University."

Werner has been an Enterostomal Therapy Nurse for more than 17 years at Covenant Health Care. She was named E.T. Nurse of the Year in 2003 by the five state Mid-East Region and has founded "Just Between Us" an American Cancer Society support group. Werner is the Educational Chairperson and Coordinator for the Tri-City Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. She also served as adjunct faculty for Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Albany Medical Center, and SVSU. In 1999, the SVSU Alumni Association honored her with the Distinguished Alumni award.

When asked why SVSU grads should support the Alumni Association, Judy noted, "The Alumni Association consists of members who have a strong commitment to SVSU and want to be a part of the excitement of a growing group of active, involved alumni. I encourage all alumni to join the Association because its programs and services are designed to provide ways for you to stay involved in the life of the University and also to respond to your needs and interests. Members of the Association make and maintain professional contacts and personal friendships."

Werner continued, "Think of everything you learned, everything you did, and everyone you met while at SVSU. The campus will always be your second home and members of the Association visit often for social, cultural, educational or athletic events. For graduates who moved away, the Association supports the establishment of national chapters and brings SVSU to "you". Preserve the value of your degree and join the Association to help elevate SVSU's standing as a great university!" exclaimed Werner.

"Our relationship with the University is ongoing...It is indeed, lifelong." said Werner.
