SVSU offers two Accounting programs - the B.B.A. and B.P.A., to ensure you get where you need to with the right degree. Both programs combine the fundamentals of a business foundation with concentrated coursework in accounting which exposes students to a cutting-edge accounting curriculum. The Bachelor of Professional Accountancy (B.P.A.) will prepare you for a career in professional accounting and satisfies the 150-hour (five year) requirement to sit for the CPA examination. Courses revolve around a business core, a number of business cognates and some specified and advanced accounting courses. The degree is intended to provide you with in-depth preparation beyond the B.B.A. in accounting in order to excel in certification examinations or provide additional preparation in a specific area of accounting.
SVSU offers distinguished academic fraternities and programs for you to join, particularly in the realm of business. There are honors societies, academically enriching programs, student leadership organizations and professional networking groups where you can connect and apply what you're learning to the real world.
Internships will prove to be a critical part of your SVSU experience. As Cardinals, we support every student in finding the profession and business sector that fit you best.
