Sociology

Sociology examines the various forms and patterns of human organization, behavior, and interaction across different historical social systems and from micro to macro, local to global perspectives.  The SVSU program provides a broad approach tempered by the different interests and viewpoints of individual faculty, providing students with a framework to better understand the society in which we live.

Degree Offerings  

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology at SVSU offers two tracks of a concentration leading to:

  • Applied track: Designed for students who intend to use sociological skills to analyze social life or social problems.
  • Diversity track: Designed to expose students to a wide variety of issues associated with race, ethnicity, social class, gender, and other types of diversity within society and social institutions

Why SVSU

  • The average class size at SVSU is only 24 students, allowing for meaningful interation between faculty and students.
