David Mossner is currently enrolled in SVSU’s program in social work, and is planning for a career as a social worker specializing in substance abuse and its affect on people’s lives.”
“I want to be a social worker because I am especially interested in helping people who are down and out, in any sense of that term, and I empathize with people who experience need and who have no where else to turn. Society has an obligation to take care of all of its citizens.”
“The greatest strength of SVSU’s program is its faculty. The professors here foster open discussion and thought about social issues an complex situations. I’ve never lost interest in a single social work class or assignment.”
“SVSU’s professors are approachable, caring, and understanding. They have a genuine concern for how students are doing, and they are easy to work with and accommodating.”
“The best part about the program is that it has opened my mind to the diversity of our world, and the diversity of opinion this world contains, on any issue whatsoever. The social work program teaches you to look at things in a new more complex way, and allows you to analyze all the factors that come to bear on any complex issue.”
“My favorite class so far (I’ve liked them all), is the class on interviewing techniques. This was a very challenging class, but ultimately very helpful, because it is a skill that I will use everyday in my job as a social worker.”
“Being a student at SVSU is like having a really great job – I really love coming here every day.”
