Julie Kurzer...

... is currently a junior in SVSU’s nursing program, where she is studying to be a critical care nurse in the mid-Michigan area.

NUR--Kurzer--LG“The nursing program is very time consuming and challenging, but I absolutely love it.  Everything you learn is very beneficial, and the program does an excellent job of teaching students to understand all aspects of patient care.”

“The nursing faculty are very helpful.  I feel like my success is important to them, and they are always approachable and available for questions.”

“The nursing facilities and labs are very large and modern.  There are always lab staff persons available to help with anything you’re having trouble with.  For example, early in the program I was having a hard time starting IVs, so I went into the lab outside of class, and they were there to help me.”

“Clinical experiences are built into the program from the very start, which is important because it gets you involved with patients right away, and you get to see what it’s like to work in a clinical setting.”

“The most important thing I have learned from the nursing program so far is to have confidence in myself.  I know I can do it, and the professors are there to help you find your way.”

“The nursing curriculum provides you with a very broad and strong knowledge base.  I feel like I can approach any situation unafraid, and understand the process by which it will be solved by using the tools I have been trained to use.”

“SVSU’s nursing program is second to none!”
