Nursing
The SVSU Nursing program combines a program of professional nursing skills with courses in the natural and behavioral sciences and general education. The program is interdisciplinary in nature.
Why SVSU?
One of the few programs in the state that admits a limited number of freshmen to the Nursing major allowing faculty to interact in a caring manner with students. - State-of-the-art and modern learning facilities provide frequent opportunities for learning in a simulated healthcare environment.
- Faculty teach students the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective communicators, clinicians, and leaders in the 21st Century health care system.
- Program emphasizes the ability to gather, analyze, and use information for the improvement of healthcare, and to continually adapt to changes in the rapidly changing world of healthcare.
Degree Programs
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) -- curriculum
Prepares students to take the State Board of Nursing Licensure Examination.
- R.N. to B.S.N. Program -- curriculum
Designed for those who have graduated from a state approved Nursing school and who hold a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
Accreditation

Since being eligible, all programs in Nursing have been accredited by the official accrediting organization.

In 2005, the self-study and site visit occurred for accreditation renewal. Approval was received from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for the maximum ten years with no recommendations.
