As a music student at SVSU, you will benefit from our modern facilities and programs that provide both the practical and theoretical backgrounds you will need to succeed in music and music education. The Department of Music offers the following professional caliber programs:
Degree Offerings
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music
Strong preparation in music theory, music history and literature and performance. -- curriculum
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music Education
Designed for students whose goal is to teach music in grades K-12. Students receiving the B.A. in Music Education are eligible to apply for a Michigan teaching license in music, and to pursue teaching positions in general, vocal and instrumental music. -- curriculum

Applying to the Department of Music

An applied audition and theory assessment are required prior to being accepted as a music or music education major.

Prospective minors are required to take a theory assessment prior to being accepted into one of the minor programs.
