Chad Myers

Chad Myers, a senior in SVSU’s Business Management Program, and a member of the Student Advisory Council to the Dean of the College of Business and Management, feels that the best part about the business program is the combination of straight forward, easy to follow program guidelines, and the knowledgeable professors.

In the Business Management program, “everything is laid out so clearly, from the moment you choose the major, you can easily schedule out your entire program and know exactly what it will take to graduate.” Myers says that during his career in the SVSU Business Management program he has never felt behind or been confused about which classes he should take, partly because his Business Management professors are so knowledgeable about the program.

Myers Human Resource Management professor, Deb Bishop, was particularly helpful. “She supplemented each section of the textbook with a small to medium sized project that simulated a task or problem that actual Human Resource managers were responsible for. This made the class very interactive, and it was much easier to learn about job responsibilities when I was actually performing them.”

Myers feels that “students who graduate from the business program have some great opportunities because of how close the College of Business and Management works with local businesses.” Myers explains that The Dean of the college, Dr. Wafa, has a college advisory board that consists of 30 experienced area business leaders who communicate exactly what they expect of graduates who are looking to be hired.  “The professors, and the Student Advisory Council help the students in the business program meet these expectations.”

With all the experience he has gained in the Business Management program, working with knowledgeable professors, and serving on the Student Advisory Council, Myers plans to use his degree to gain more experience in the business world. “I hope to find a job in which I can work my way up and gain experience at different levels of business, and eventually I would like to use all of these experiences to start my own business.”
