The International Studies major is an interdisciplinary program designed for students who intend to do graduate study or work in any of a variety of areas in an increasingly interrelated world. The student must choose one of the following areas of concentration:
All students are required to gain foreign language competency; and take a core curriculum of courses, which includes Economics, Literature, History, Geography, Political Science, and Sociology; and take additional classes in one of the above areas of concentration. All International Studies majors must file a proposed course of study to the International Studies Committee.
The combination of foreign language study with other academic programs -- such as social work, teaching, nursing, criminal justice, business -- increases career opportunities.
