Ali Goodhall...

...knew she wanted to attend SVSU after her first visit to campus, although she was undecided about what subject to major in when she arrived.  Now, she is preparing to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination after she graduates next year.

ACCT--Goodhall LG Rnd“My visit to campus made all the difference.  Everything is so close to you, and the landscaping is beautiful.  I love the feel of walking around SVSU.”

“I was undecided about what major to select when I started.  I had always enjoyed math and business classes, but I think ultimately it was the enthusiasm of one of my professors, Professor Marilyn Knight, that made me decide on Managerial Accounting.”

“SVSU’s faculty is extremely knowledgeable.  The teachers are experts at making information accessible in every assigned topic, and they go above and beyond to extend the class dialogue outside of the classroom whenever you need them.”

“You can always go to a professor for help in finding an internship, sorting through opportunities, and for help with general career and school advice.”

Ali is also a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a fraternity devoted to community service, and she also served for two years as a Representative on SVSU’s Student Association, the organization for student government, on which she served as Chair of the Budget Committee, which is responsible for allocating funds to student clubs and organizations.

In addition, Ali is a member of the Roberts Fellowship program at SVSU, a leadership development program that provides a Study Abroad experience at no expense to the student.  Next year’s class will travel to Beijing, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and several cities in Japan.

“Learning about different cultures at SVSU has really made me a better and smarter person.  My education here has enhanced my personal as well as my professional life.”

“The Roberts Fellowship curriculum is designed to enhance leadership abilities and review the leadership capacities others have held in the past.  It teaches about the cultures of Southeast Asia and their philosophies.  The trip is a culmination of everything we study over the course of a year – you get to see everything firsthand and travel the world.”

After graduation, Ali is planning to apply to small-size accounting firms in Michigan that specialize in financial advising for individuals and small businesses.
