Biology is the science of life. There are many areas of specialization within the biological sciences, such as  anatomy, physiology, environmental studies, botany, zoology, horticulture, genetics, and molecular biology. Classes are conducted in modern laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment. The University's 782-acre campus contains an ecological research area where a variety of biological fieldwork is performed.  The SVSU Biology Department offers a wide variety of courses providing students the ability to emphasize their area of interest and to prepare themselves for jobs in the biological sciences or for further study in graduate or professional schools (e.g. medical, dental, veterinary). Classes are conducted in modern laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment. The University’s 782-acre campus contains an ecological research area where a variety of biological fieldwork is performed. Close proximity to Saginaw Bay provides undergraduate students opportunities for environmental and aquatic field trips and research experiences.
