Involvement
Through student organizations, such as Communication Guild, Forensics Club and Lambda Pi Eta, you can enrich your university experience by getting more involved with the communication department.
The Communication Guild sponsors a number of events each academic year including the annual Sims Public Speaking Contest. In the past the Communication Guild has also organized student trips to meet with communication professionals in Chicago and to attend the annual meeting of the National Communication Association. For more info contact Amy Pierce.
The Forensics Club has participated in the forensics and debate competitions for the past two years. They placed 2nd at the State Novice Forensics Tournament. Some of the categories in forensics include extemporaneous, prose interpretation, persuasion, dramatic interpretation, informative speaking, poetry interpretation, after dinner speaking, rhetorical criticism and dramatic duo interpretation. For more info contact Amy Pierce or visit the SVSU forensics team website.
Lamda Pi Eta is the communication honor society. For more info contact Dennis Wignall.
