Bachelor of Science in Design, University of Michigan, 1960.
Master of Fine Arts, Indiana University, Bloomington, 1964 with an emphasis in painting and sculpture. At Indiana University Mr. Zivich studied with William Bailey and James McGarrell in studio art and John Jacobus in art history. During his stay at Indiana University Mr. Zivich had an assistantship as Professor Jean-Paul Darriau's sculpture assistant. He also won the Leonard Bocour Prize for Student Painting.
Mr. Zivich began his teaching career at Indiana University South Bend where he also spent some time as an adjunct at Notre Dame University's Art Department. Mr. Zivich has been teaching at S.V.S.U. since the fall of 1976. His regular courses include Intermediate and Advanced Drawing; Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced Painting and Sculpture and Three-Dimensional Design. Introduction and Advanced Watercolor and Life Drawing are also taught by Mr. Zivich.
Mr. Zivich's art works in drawing, painting, sculpture and photography have been exhibited extensively in the statewide and local competitive exhibitions in Michigan and in Indiana prior to living in Michigan. His artworks have won prizes at the Birmingham/Bloomfield Art Center, the Midland Center for the Arts and at the Flint Institute of Arts. He has also won prizes at the Saginaw Art Museum and a purchase prize at the Saginaw Township Exhibition.
From 2000 to 2003 Professor Zivich has won an Award of Merit cash prize for his drawings entered into the 41st, 42nd and 43rd Annual Greater Michigan Art Exhibition respectively, a state wide, competitive art exhibit at the Midland Center for the Arts. He has also won similar prizes at Bay City's Studio 23. During this same period his series of drawings have been exhibited in competitive shows at Wayne State University, the Lansing Gallery of Art, the Paint Creek Art Exhibit, Rochester, Michigan, and the Battle Creek Annual Art Exhibit.
