Parents Information

Parents play a vital role in a student's collegiate life. As the parent of an incoming student, you may be experiencing varied emotions as your son or daughter prepares for college. The support and encouragement a student receives from parents often contributes to a student's success.  During our Parent Orientation Program, informative sessions are offered to answer your questions and address concerns about college life at Saginaw Valley.

The Parent Orientation Program is more than just another campus tour.  Parent Orientation offers special presentations regarding faculty expectations, academic requirements, housing, campus life and student activities, costs and financial aid.  The presentations are designed not only to help parents gain additional information about the University, but also offer insight into the adjustments you and your son/daughter will face during the next few years.  While not required, parents may attend the same day as their son/daughter, but please remember that the stuent programs are entirely seperate from the parent program.  There are no scheduled meetings between students and parents during orientation.

Below is a list of program dates.  Parent Program information will be sent out in March.  Check-in for the Parent Program is at 8:30 a.m.  There is no fee for Parent Orientation and approximately 80-120 parents attend each session.
