Cardinal News Blast - News for incoming freshmen Vol. 1

Vol. 1

From The Coordinator

Once again, we want to welcome you to Saginaw Valley State University! Over the next five months, you will be getting ready to join the rank and file of the collegiate lifestyle. Class scheduling and course placement testing, if applicable, will be completed during your SOAR program. Eagerness to broaden your horizons, while beginning a new phase in your life, is only weeks away. Now—you're ready to move on to the next level.

We all know that adjusting to college life is exciting, but it can also be difficult and trying at times. That’s why SVSU has put in place the "Cardinal News Blast." This program was designed to give new students important information that will help them in the first few weeks of classes and beyond. Students are automatically enrolled in the program once they sign up for SOAR at SVSU.  There are no additional fees or registrations for the program.

By now you’re probably thinking to yourself, "Another Program? Do I have to drive to campus again?" NO! The Cardinal News Blast is sent out to students monthly via Vmail, SVSU's E-mail System. Subject matter may include information pertaining to Academic Support Services, Campus Life, Career Planning & Placement, student testimonials, etc.

I highly recommend that you read ALL the information over carefully.  The benefits of this information can only enhance the coming years at SVSU.  Many students have said that the Cardinal News Blast has "really made their adjustment to college life much easier."  Another student added that "reading over the information really made difficult situations easier for me, since I knew where I had to go and what I had to do."  We're really excited for you and the advantages that this program has to offer.

All you need to do is check your E-mail regularly—sit back and reap the rewards.

Wishing you future success,

Lisa A. Gross
Program Coordinator
