Student Records
- FERPA -The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 as Amended, commonly known as FERPA, is designed to protect the privacy of student education records, to establish the right of students to inspect and review their educational records, and the right of students to have some control over the disclosure of information from their records. The Act is enforced by the Family Policy Compliance Office, U.S. Department of Education. We as an institution take this Act very seriously.
- At the college level the rights that gave you access to your son or daughters educational records in elementary school or high school are now transfered to your student. According to FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) your student is now considered a responsible adult and he/she is given the power to determine who can receive information about him/her. The quickest, easiest way for you to receive information about your child's grades, financial statements, or other student information is to simply ask your son or daughter to share this information with you. Cardinal Direct, SVSU's online registration system allows students to look up information online, print and give, or e-mail a copy to you.
