Applying to SVSU

Top

  • What's the difference between undergraduate and graduate schools?
    • The undergraduate program is for students pursuing a bachelor's degree, such as a Bachelor's in Arts. Usually, this is your first degree or is a new degree you are pursuing. Courses that apply to these programs will be numbered 100-499 (i.e. CHEM313 is an undergraduate course). Once you have finished your undergraduate degree, you can attend a graduate program to earn a Masters Degree and even a Doctorate in that field. Graduate courses will be numbered 500 and higher.
  • How do I request materials (school catalog, application, etc.)?
  • How do I prepare to go to SVSU?
    • You should consider all of these:
Application (online) Get it in early! You have a better chance for financial aid and scholarships when you apply early.
Housing Will you live on campus or off? Will you commute from home? Decide and consider this in your budget.
Costs Tuition, Room-and-Board, Fees, Transportation, and more. Figure your costs and make plans for how you will finance everything.
        Degree Program
      Undergraduate
      Graduate
Do you know which degree program you want to enroll in? If so, plan your program based on the general education requirements (if undergrad) and your core classes (undergrad and grad). Planning a little ahead will help you in the long run.
Financial Aid/Scholarships The money goes to those who know about it. Ask about scholarships and look online. Apply, apply, apply!
